JET 3270 Documentation > Settings & Preferences > Deleting Saved Preferences
Deleting the saved preferences
Sometimes you may want to delete the saved preferences file. For
example, if you have changed the applet parameters for preferences
in a web page to load JET 3270 you need to delete the saved
preferences before you can check that the applet parameters
are working as expected. Follow these steps:
- Close all JET 3270 sessions.
- Exit the browser.
- Locate the local session directory.
The location of the local session directory depends on the web
browser and operating system:
- Communicator
- Windows 98
If Communicator was installed in the default directory
then the local session directory is:
C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Users\user\.jet3270
where user is the profile name.
- Solaris, HP-UX, Linux and AIX
The local session directory is:
~/.netscape/.jet3270
- Internet Explorer
- Windows 98
- Microsoft VM
If Windows was installed in the default directory, then
the local session directory is:
C:\WINDOWS\JAVA\.jet3270
- Java Plug-in
If Windows was installed in the default directory, then
the local session directory is:
C:\WINDOWS\.jet3270
- Mac OS X
The local session directory is a folder called .jet3270
in the user's home folder. It is not visible from the Finder.
- Netscape 6
- Windows 98
If Windows 98 was installed in the default directory, then
the local session directory is:
C:\WINDOWS\.jet3270
The general rule is that the local session directory is called
.jet3270 and is a subdirectory of the user's
home directory as given by
the browser (i.e. the user.home system property).
- Locate the preferences file. It is in the local session
directory and is named "preferences".
- Use the method appropriate to the operating system to delete the
preferences file (eg. Windows Explorer, the rm command).
